I'm having trouble with my unit. Everytime I press the on button, all I get is the tomtom two hand sign and the sound clip that goes with it, then it closes down after 10 seconds. This happens everytime. Having read the instruction book, there is nothing about the reset. Does anyone know how long to hold down the reset and do you do it in conjunction with anything else?
Thanks |

I don't think it matters how long you hold down the reset button but some people say that there are two types of reset, one a short poke and the other holding the reset button down for 30 seconds. Why not try both.
If you are getting the drum roll sound then the reset is probably working.
Can you access the data on your tomtom when you connect it to a computer? _________________ Paul |

On the x10 series the Reset is a pin-in-the-hole job on the underside of the Unit.
Having said that the drum roll usually indicates that the unit has reset.
With the unit off, try taking the SD Card out, then re-insert it. Switch the unit on. _________________ Richard

Thank you both for your suggestions. I've tried every combination of holding start, not holding start, short spike reset, long hold reset. I keep getting the two hands and the drum roll then it closes down. Tried taking the SD card out and putting it back, probably tried things that even their R&D guys haven't thought of. No joy. looks like I'm heading towards my wallet for the first time in 2 long years.
Thanks again.

Don't give up yet!
Do you have a card reader for your PC? If so can you see any data on the tomtom card.
If not can the PC see the data on the tomtom card when the tomtom is connected to the PC? _________________ Paul |

I used my PDa to see if there was anything on the SD, it all appeared to be there. But I'm not sure if there was anything missing so thats all I know. |

Do you have a backup of the data from your SD card on your PC? If so you could try copying the data to a new SD card and posting back here with the result. _________________ Paul |
