I've read about people buying cheap GPS devices and then installing TomTom onto them, but can anyone tell me if I can install TomTom onto my Zumo 500?

It has a memory card slot, so I was hoping I can put a real recent TomTom onto it with Europe maps in the memory card. Is this possible?

(Sorry to post in both forums, but wasn't sure which would be best Smile )

No, I do not think that is possible. Not sure why you'd want to anyway, my Zumo is superb. I just wish my TT was as stable.

No it won't work as TT is Linux based and Garmin uses its own OS, I would forget about doing this at best it will waste your time, or worse it could brick your device - Mike

Really?

1. TT user interface is much easier to use.

2. How do I even same a new POI to the custom ones I imported on Zumo? I only seem to be able to add favourites.

3. I know what I'm doing with TomTom as far as maps and other things as I've been using it for years.

4. Once I've plotted a route, how do I just simply view a 2D overview map of my surroundings on the Zumo???

These are just a few things off the top of my head. It may well be I just don't know how to use it very well, but I never had to go reading manuals to do these things on TomTom...
