Dartmouth in Devon is also missing from the list. Most of the roads are there but you have to manually find Dartmouth first.

Interestingly we have a multi-roundabout setup in Essex at Sadlers Hall Farm intersection between the A13 and the A130. Tom Tom has always reported the correct manouvers ie "cross the roundabout third exit then cross the roundabout first exit." It is impossible to speed so fast that the GPS cannot keep up.

Mark... I agree that TomTom SHOULD address the issues and anomolies that you point out. However, if they miss out large parts of maps such as Wales, IOW and Dartmouth as pointed out above, then what are the chances that TomTom are gonna get round to adjusting little glitches?... I'm sure they will get around to it someday but I doubt its high on their priority list. So unfortunately it is a case of either having to accept it for the moment and use other software which you feel suits you're needs or to ignore the known fault until they do correct it.

I too feel that the software is a little buggy where the maps dont always update etc, but thats down to errors within the GPS fixing solution. Because I'm aware of this I know a little interpretation on my part is required... and when all else fails I just look at the map to the planned route and follow that instead of the instructions.

I would be interested to see if TomTom respond to you and how quickly they update a fix for your problem... let me know how you get on.

I'll let you know if they respond, but the whole point (from Dave) was that he wanted to know of problems found!! Not just big problems found, but all problems found!! Obviously having whole portions of the country missing is more important, BUT I don't think it has to be one or the other - while they are trying to get TeleAtlas to get the map data sorted, why not correct glitches?

I have no problem making allowances for the glitches (like you say, just take a glance at the map if the instruction seems confusing, and all becomes clear), but I'm afraid I find it a little annoying to be told, in a roundabout (again no punn intended!!) sort of way, that I shouldn't have mentioned it because it's not as important as other items. Maybe you didn't mean that, but that's how I heard it!!!

It is a fault with the programme, and Dave wanted to know about faults!!! It's up to TomTom to prioritise them if they have to, not us.

Anyway, I still think Navigator is by far the best available. None of the problems have caused any great difficulty for me yet, as I haven't had to drive to Wales or Cornwall, and as you say the others are relatively minor. I just hope they get the major points sorted before I do have to.

Mark

Yep, agree with Mark, would like to hear about ALL problems. I don't mind listing them, TomTom Nav really is the best program and map I've used so far and I'm trying my very best not to be biased for or against any company, but TomTom have excelled and created a winning product. If it was a terrible product, TomTom would be getting a lot of abuse and we'd also see it here, but seeing that everyone's pretty jolly about it all, and there's no linch mob here, I think just re-iterates that people are willing to accept these impurities, but they shouldn't have to, and that's why we'd like to see as many of the problems fixed as possible making TomTom Navigator and future product versions even better!

Here's an interesting one I've come across (again, relating to junctions on the M4)...

If you try plotting a route between Wokingham and Slough (for example), rather than routing you to the nearest 'official' junction on the M4, you're encouraged to take a country lane, then take a dive off the bridge straight onto the motorway!

I've found large parts of North Devon to be missing from the maps including:

Bideford

Ilfracombe

Combe Martin

and many others

Also the Church Lane in Hebden Bridge (West Yorkshire) is marked as a private road at the very bottom is wrong. This means tom tom diverts you a much longer route to avoid it.

All these map problems have me worried. If Teleatlas is relying on all of use reporting these problems to correct the maps, then its going to be years before they are right.

Cheers

Steddy

Hi,

If you take the M25 clockwise and plan to exit onto Bath Road (Colnbrook - 51.47895 / 0.50366) TT Navigator will direct you to exit the M25 when you are 30ft above Bath Road!, when you should realy exit onto Horton Road... I decided to continue and let it recalc!!

I ordered my copy of the Navigator software direct from TT ten days ago, before I found the PocketGPS website (silly me!). I discovered the missing towns problem, contacted support and returned my CD. Imagine my excitement when I got an email yesterday saying that my replacement CD had been dispatched. (Excellent service - only 5 working days). Sadly the replacement CD is identical to the one that I sent back!!

I think that Navigator has the makings of an excellent program, but TT must fix the database for the SW of England quickly. I am not convinced that they should continue selling the software in it's present form.

TomTom do seem to be having a problem here on sending out updated CD's. I'm not sure if it's a language problem, or if someone just plain doesn't understand the map problems, Email them again, and they should send you out another replacement which will be updated.

Here's another of those spectacular right turns from a bridge onto the M4! Plotting a route from Rhiwbina in Cardiff to say Saint Mellons in East Cardiff, Navigator sends you North up Rhiwbina Hill and then as you cross the bridge over the M4, you are invited to shoot down the embankment to join the East going carriageway.
