Hi

I just got a BMW X5 - it has GPS Nav, so my TomTom just became obsolete... but I still need camera warings.

I am told that BMWs heat absorbing glass means that GPS devices will not work attached to the screen - is this correct? If so, any suggestions for devices?

Thanks!

Chris

The glass is known as Athermic and its this coating that reduces the GPS signal, the newer TomTom devices will all work in your X5 as they are far more sensitive than the older units - which model have you got? - Mike

I wasn't thinking of the Tom Tom - it is too big and the BMW has nav anyway. Because I only need camera alerts, I was thinking of something like Road Angel.

Do all newer devices have better GPS reception, ie capable of dealing with a BMW screen?

Thanks again...

Most of the newer devices will work in your car, I would try a trip to your local Halfords and try a couple of units in the car to see if they do work correctly - Mike
