|
|
Hi there,
Does anyone know what the function of the "Car Preferences" section is in the menus of the TT GO PNDs? I have a Go 530 and this icon is always greyed out when I'm going through the options. I have the full menu displays active, so I can always see it, but I can't select it.
The user manual says :-
Tap this button to change the way your GO responds to events in your car.
• Link night view to headlights
• Instructions mute car radio
Does anyone use this, or does it even work?
Cheers,

That's been there forever in applications for all models. And always greyed out.
The idea was that the functionality would be implemented for hard wired models and control lights, etc. I believe I saw a long time ago one poster having some model where it worked but, basically, the icon shouldn't even be there........
Don't worry about it. _________________ David |

Thanks David.
So it's another one of TT's bright ideas that went slightly wrong along the way....!!
What amazes me is their inability to get the bluetooth stuff right. It works so well in most other devices that it has really now become a blight on their engineering. _________________ TomTom Go 740 LIVE and iOPlay bluetooth hands-free car kit |

I even have a box with the car-kit in it. It came very close to a product but never actually made it to market.
A real shame as it could have been very good (and still would) based as it was on BT. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Try it with the iPhone you might be surprised at the result, the alternate is the iO-Play that I use which offers greater connectivity - but you will only get the A2DP support with this using it with a TomTom or iPhone, with SmartPhone you also get AVRCP control using the iO-P kit.
I would like to see the car connect device brought back from the dead though as it would be handy for x10/ x20, x30 and x40 users let alone the soon to be released TomTom iPhone application, even users of the TTN6 and newer TTN7 on SmartPhone/ PDA Phone would benefit as the compatible devices all support A2DP these days.
All thats needed is to drop to the connection to the car lights etc as this isn't really needed these days, a simple hook to the car stereo would be easy to implement, then drop the Car Preferences icon which is greyed out from the menu as its not needed - Mike |
