Satmap European Mapping goes Live

Satmap have begun the roll-out of European mapping with the recent launch of 40 maps covering Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Satmap has partnered with a number of map suppliers including for Austria, the BEV (Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen) and for Germany the BKG/LVA (Bundesland Karten / Landesvermessungsämter).

Richard Calthrop-Owen, MD of Satmap said: “Satmap is the first GPS company in the world to offer all these topographical maps to outdoor sports enthusiasts."

Satmap is preparing further maps for Western Europe with releases scheduled for Summer 2009. The European maps announced above are available now from www.satmap.com with prices starting at £34.99 (RRP).

The maps for Switzerland looked very impressive on the a10 when I saw these at the NEC recently, with the shading/ rendering giving them a 3D appearance, possibly even better than our own Ordnance Survey mapping - Mike
