Hi

I have two TT2 docking mounts for my motorcycles, both are playing up

#1 Connect the tomtom and it thinks its on the car mount. so n isntruction through the head set

#2 Connect every thing works ok then after a min or two the power is cut and the thing starts to shut down.

I have swapped the mounts over and the faults remain with the mounts

Any suggestions

Question

I dont want to buy new mounts unless it cannot be avoided

Have you tried cleaning all the contacts on the mounts and the TT2?
Sounds like they need it. Use cotton buds and some strong contact cleaner. If need be get some from Maplins.

Or try Vodka if you have any in the house, this works very well for contact cleaning - Mike

Hi Guys

Thanks for the quick replies

Tried that the tt works fine in the car. What has me confused is the bike mount the is recognised as a car one?

The other one that keeps loosing power I guess could be an internal connection in the mount

I expect I will have to buy another mount and then pull the others to bits.

I had a similar problem with losing power on the bike mount and eventually traced it to the wiring to the battery, where the earth wire had worked loose.

Have you checked all the connections?

Hi

Yes checked the connections. I have the TomTom and a set of auxiliary lights wired via a relay. The connections are good.

If I use the dock that is reported as a car dock then I have power all the time

http://www.webazar.org/tomtom/photos.php?galerie=tomtomrider&action=photo&no=6

This shows you the contact that deals with the TT2 thinking its in the car. It's taped up as some prefer the full control of the TT2 when in the car.

Cheers

Philip

Hi Philipe

Ive tried that I think that it only works on the TT rider 1 not the 2,

but thanks for trying.

Tomorrow I will pull one to pieces and see what I can find

May just end up with a lot of little pieces.

So far I have had to replace five docks, three provided for free by Tom Tom. Two problems, 1, stopping charging 2, the plastic body breaking and coming appart where the four screws secure the two halves.
