|
|
Hello all,
Recently there was a press release about a new sat nav unit that can read road signs and display the speed on the screen.
Can anyone recall the manufacturer?

No, it was a physical unit with a camera that reads the signs then displays the info on the sat nav's display.
It then warns you if you are over the limit.

It was a Blaupunkt TravelPilot 510.

Not quite, they do have that on the new Insignia model but in this context it's the Blaupunkt.
I've added a link above. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I was there so had something of an advantage though!
It's clever stuff (in both Insignia and Blaupunkt) and the demo we saw is better than you would imagine having arrows and directions overlay the live video feed.
The Blaupunkt even has a warning feature if you get to close to a car ahead. I'm not sure if the Blaupunkt operates like the Vauxhall though, that always shows the last sign it recognised, great for checking the speed limit as a reminder. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the help.
When I click the link it takes me to the admin login section of the site. Does it work for anyone else?
