Andy, no I was looking at this one earlier today. No Wazza_G's is the one I took a photo of and gave the link to. My picture doesn't show it very well but from the front the "roof" of the camera is like a house roof with 45 degree angled sides. I'll try to get a better picture later today. |

Wilderness, you've described them perfectly with:
Quote: | They have two lenses at the front vertically aligned and on either side are a bank of LEDs for illumination. |
Ultimately I's say that they're a combination of TheSpike & Spike 2.
So if you remove the cowl of Spike2 & put it in the case of TheSpike & it was all black, then you'd have it.
The others are like I said on a set of lights on Priorswood Road, I think it was a pedestrian crossing about 300m beyond the Premier Inn.
The other one is on top of the traffic lights, just before the roundabout to the A3065 Silk Mills Lane, although that maybe one like the 2nd photo in your gallery, it was hard to tell, because I was in heavy traffic at the time, but definitely there.
So from both of your descriptions it sounds like they maybe ANPR cameras, but I'm still suspicious. |

My gut feeling is that they are going in place prior to the new Park and Ride being opened in Henlade as my guess would be that that is going to cause traffic nightmares in Taunton |

Hi there
I have uploaded specific photos of these cameras from the A358 -
Would be great if someone could confirm the type
Edit resize of pictures, they are best kept to below 500 pixels wide to avoid messing up the browser window - Mike Alder |

Those are exactly the ones!
The same type are also fixed to several sets of traffic lights too. |

I didn't/ don't know the answer, but it was annoying to have to scroll sideways.
I'm sure there is someone who may know, but not me i'm afraid. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

MikeB and I are off to Traffex at the NEC tomorrow to gather 'intel' on the latest and greatest camera technology. I'll do my best to ID these for you. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

I've just been down the Taunton cop shop to enquire about these cameras. They say (well, the girl behind the desk) they 'think' they're a combination of ANPR and traffic flow monitoring devices but are nothing to do with them. How can I upload my photos to this forum? Or has someone got to the bottom of the mystery?[/img] |
