Can anyone shed any light on this.
Travelling home from work today, a set of traffic lights with a safety camera on them was out, replaced by a makeshift set of temporary lights.
I was turning right following a couple of cars, when it appeared that we were moving against a red light- although it has to be said it was a busy junction with too few temporary lights in use.
My question is this- would the existing safety camera still be in use or is it totally dependant upon the existing set of traffic lights? Or would the fact that the traffic lights were disabled also prevent the camera from working?

Thanks in advance.

Not an expert, but it would be my guess that the cameras are in sync with the regular lights. There's pressure pads and the like in the road as well at some.

Those temp lights fail to work as and when they feel like it.
I'm assuming here the temp lights are the ones we see stuck in an oil drum or onna tripod, with a sign showing a man opening an umbrella.

I'm thinking the same but it's only after the event you begin to analyze and wonder.
There are so many speed cameras on my way to and from work that paranoia sets in and far from being safe, I find myself spending too much time checking and rechecking what I'm doing rather than focusing on what is going on around me.
Kind of defeats the object of having the cameras really....
