Do you know how early though? There were IIRC two versions of the original receiver and the MKI model was very poor.

From the picture, it looks like the old x10 version.

If you look here there is an older one, and a new one. The old one for 910 has a round box, the new one rectangle.

Ah but there were two releases of the MKI with the plug connector, and the first of these was very poor, almost useless.

The square dongle version you refer to uses mini-USB and is entirely different,

I have just got back from testing the 730 with it on a 52 mile round trip, I went to where I know there were rush hour delays caused by temp roadworks, I was directed along roads I would not normally have choosen, and to my amazement I was not held up at all, in fact I will probably choose that route again

I am looking to upgrade our TT One V2.

Can someone tell me if TMC traffic works and whether the TT XL V2 can use TMC AND GPRS or just TMC (one service at a time) - i.e. if the TMC doesnt work can I resort to GPRS like my old V2 TT One?

Thanks

The XL v2 has no Bluetooth capability at all so you are confined to using the RDS-TMC receiver with the device (and the only one it will work with is the mini USB style receiver), unless they ever decide to release the HD Traffic receiver in the UK, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen.
In short you cannot use GPRS Traffic with the XL v2 as its not possible to connect it to your phone - Mike

Thanks Mike

So - do I spend £30 a year on GPRS traffic and £60 to upgrade the map? Given that the V2 sells on Ebay for £35 ish then a V4 Traffic which costs £137 is around £10 more this year than the V2.

What do folks think of TMC traffic?

Also - is GPRS traffic as good as HD traffic?

It should work ok then. Very Happy It's the newest model of the ones with a round connector plug. Non-USB.

Its now 2 days since I started using mine on my 730, it works great, although I must admit I have been driving towards all the traffic holdups I can find to see what happens, and before anyone replies "get a life", I'm off on a 3000 mile round trip in the next few weeks and need all the practice I can get.

I hope your 3000 mile trip is in Europe, if its USA then the RDS-TMC device you have got won't work over there, they have a different device for American reception - Mike

I've jut received the TMC and I attached it to my 910 and drover a 90 mile round trip today along the M40, A40 and the A406 North Circular and it never once picked up a radio station.

Am I doing something wrong. It just appears to keep on trying to find a station.

Any help would be appreciated.
