Hi,

Just a warning to anyone thinking of signing up to the £7.99 monthly Live subscription.

Doing so will set up a "Continuous Payment Authority" which can only be stopped through TomTom, you are not able to cancel it via your credit card company.

Such agreements are a nightmare to sort out if the company concerned is uncooperative. I refuse to sign up to anything I can't cancel unilaterally.

Hi SpookyUK
I once fell into that trap. My daughter wanted to order some software and information for web design and as she had no credit card she gave me the money and I ordered and paid online. After about six months she was dissatisfied and cancelled everything to do with the company. Lo and behold, after twelve months £76 was taken from my Visa for another twelve month subscription.
Did I ever get the money back? No. Neither the company or Visa wanted to know.
One reads on this forum about alleged poor Tomtom customer service but I can assure you that Tomtom’s brilliant when compared with some companies.
However, I think my map update payment was a one off Visa payment for £64.75. I hope.
