Just got my new Go540Live today. After being pleasently suprised at how well it worked 'out of the box', I've found two problems I'd appreciate some help with.

If I navigate one of my usual journeys from home, just south of Heathrow to just north of Paris, I can't get it to use the Dover Calais ferry. With fastest route the first choice is Eurotunnel which is correct. if I tell it to avoid part of the route, Folkstone - Calais, as I normally do, it's alternative is Newhaven - Dieppe! if I set Calais as a waypoint, it want's to send me Ramsgate- Ostend. Does anyone else get the same?

Secondly, if i use operate my TomTom in home, using navigate to address/postcode, I can't enter English postcodes. The keyboard simply doesn't register on the screen. All other keyboard functions via Home appear t work fine, including French postcodes. UK postcode entry directly onto the 540 is also fine. Any sugestions?

Malcolm

What map is selected when using Home? UK or WE? Should be GB.

I'm confused by the maps... Did you buy a W+C Europe map at the same time as the 540, otherwise it should only have a UK map, shouldn't it?

Second Question... yes it's a bug in Home. I reported it to them myself back in November (when we were on Home v2.4.0.104) and it didn't get fixed in v2.5.0.29.

A workround is to use "shift" (but not caps lock) for the first letter only.

The 540 does not normally have the WE maps on it as it is cheaper to buy a 740 than a 540+ WE map.

I suggest you try and use Dover as a waypoint (stop) as that is where you want to go. You don't need the 540 to guide you across the channel, the ships navigation system and crew will do that for you. Once you are at Calais the TT will guide you to your destination.

My greatest apologies for rge confusion Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

It's a 740, not a 540, using only W&CE maps.

Andy, thanks for the work around suggestion, I'll try that. I thought I was using Home 2.4 with my 910, and didn't have the problem then.

I guess it might be down to a problem in the downloaded .dll file for the x40 models, rather then the version of Home itself?

If it was me I would navigate to Dover docks then, while waiting to get off the ferry I would set it to navigate to my destination.

That's what I always do, it just struck me as strange that TT have decided there atren't any Dover Calais ferries anymore Smile
