pocketgpsworld.comNever one to be out-done by a certain soft-drinks manufacturer, PocketGPSWorld.com are pleased to announce their new advertising campaign - The QR-Code!

Simply print this code out onto anything and everything to be a walking advert (so long as you don't mind people taking pictures of you on their phone). With the correct software installed you can take a picture of the code and be directed straight to our Speed Camera pages via the wonders of the mobile web (mobile browsing charges may apply).

Right-click the code above and 'save as' to download it to your computer.

The following sites have free software for reading QR-Codes on your phone:

Kaywa Reader
Nokia Mobile Codes
i-nigma
BeeTagg Reader for iPhone

Enjoy and don't stick them anywhere illegal...!

This means absolutely nothing to me!

BUT if I did want to do something with it and that something was print it on a T-Shirt, would I need to reverse it before printing (like all other T-Shirt printing). Not that I'd be able to tell which was the right way round.

I can just imagine me printing it on a T-Shirt and everybody from here to there wetting themselves laughing because to anyone wearing Polaroids, it reads "This guy is a *********** of the highest order!"

Grab a QR tag Reader app for your PocketPC then try it.

It has to appear in the orientation shown above, if it was reversed I suspect it would be indecipherable. Upside down, sideways etc would be OK I think but reversed would not.

Actually that's a good idea, it would be pretty cool!

Sorry, what I meant was if you have to reverse the print for the T-Shirt paper so that it is displayed on the shirt as it appears above then the answer is yes Laughing

Finally found one of the third-party progs that said it would work with my old camera phone. Downloaded it for a small fortune (Internet on PAYG!)
I saw a menu that said "camera" for about a second before it decided it didn't like it, and now it just asks me to "insert code number or word"

Have you got one for your thingy?

Hi there
Thanks great
I use a Nokia N95 phone and it has a built in barcode reader on it, that works great takes me straight to the correct place by just scanning it in.
Now I just need somewhere to put it at work so people can see it. (might try the staff notice board??)

nice idea Smile that's what i like about these codes - they're small enough to place pretty much anywhere yet it can hold over 4,200 alpha-numerical characters along with 30% error correction built in! (hence how it still works with the camera icon in the middle!)

MaFt - what was used to create the code? My Nokia N82 read it without any problem, but I must say, it's the first code like it I have seen. They certainly don't appear to be widespread out there.

One wonders how popular it's going to be or if there are any useful applications about to surface.

These seem to be used a lot in london. The free metro newspaper in the morning sometimes has these in as it allows you to view all the news of the day on your phone...

Quite a natty idea.

If anyone has had problems with nothing happening, you may find that you need to lower the resolution/picture quality settings and you will then find it works.

and cans and 3 litre bottles! that's where i got the inspiration from and the reason for the opening line: 'Never one to be out-done by a certain soft-drinks manufacturer...'
