Probably a daft question but does anyone know if you can change the default POI warning sound? _________________ Cheers,

Do you mean the default sounds - as in bell 1, beep , cow, bugle etc... ?
The answer is not really without alot of re-engineering a system file.
Easiest thing to do is create your own ogg ( or wav on v7) files for your warning sounds.

OK I can create .wav files fine but how do you get TT7 to use them for the POI warnings instead of the built in ones? This is to get arond the annoyance of the warnings not 'sticking' - see other post. _________________ Cheers,

You use the "Warn When near POI" option in the Settings section.
Select the POI category you want, select the warning distance, tell it you want to use a sound and it should provide a list of the available sounds for you to choose from. If you make your own then placing them in the map folder should make them appear on this list. _________________ Phil |

What version of software have you got installed to the PDA as it should support the ogg files which are much better suited to a PDA due to the file size, loading up wav files are considerably larger in terms of file size and could cause issues with memory.
As long as the ogg file uses the exact same file name as its coresponding ov2 file then the software will automatically use this when you configure the warn when near POI option.
Either way though you need to find out why the device will not retain any configuration settings as it doesn't matter which POI warning method you use, if the device cannot remember the settings you will be setting it up every time you start the software - Mike |

Agreed about finding out why it 'forgets' the settings but as stated in another post, the MapSettings.cfg file timestamp changes when I alter any warning sound !! It's fine until I close and restart TT7. _________________ Cheers,
