McGuider 2009 updates available - New UK Map

I've just tried using the new McGuider Assistant for the first time this year (in the past it always told me my serial number was invalid). After inserting my serial number and using a card reader for my SD Card (as the program fails to recognise my phone as a valid device - probably something to do with using WMDC on Vista) I checked for updates and found a free map update which claims to add 7 digit postal codes. Its a fairly hefty download at 165MB and its fix claim is odd since on my version 7 digit postcodes seem to work.

Other updates are the option to buy a Russian map addon for the Moscow area and the January 2009 speed camera updates. I guess from this it means TeleAtlas are going the TomTom route of offering free speedcameras but forgetting to tell you that they are not updatable without a payment. Also, at present I haven't found a way of getting to a payment page (not that I intend to buy the speed camera alerts from TA anyway).

A quick look at the new map shows nothing appears to have changed and for me at least 7 digit postcodes are working the same as they always have. I wonder if this fix sorts the postcodes on Symbian devices though?

Within the next few days there will also be an application update for "Symbian" users, this will be to fix the custom POI sound problem whereby the application shutsdown when it comes to one of your speedcam indicators.

Also led to believe there will be some other improvements to the application. This all comes from Sygic themselves, who in fact apologised for not getting the update out quicker, they had some issues on their "Technical Support" system.

I certainly find them very approachable, and have always had good responses from email. Fingers crossed the updates will be here this week then I can give them a run for their money next week.
