Upgrade of Nav 5 maps

Hi

I have a Palm Tungsten T3 with TomTom Navigator 5 loaded, which has served me very well over the years, however the maps on this are way out of date and TomTom don't do any refresh for Nav 5 maps. TomTom say Nav 6 is incompatible with the T3 and I don't really want to have to go and buy new hardware. Does anybody know of any other way of upgrading the maps or am I stuck with old maps or the cost of new hardware?
