OK, but this is a design change and not a 'problem' we can fix.

Hi Guys,

Please forgive my ignorance but do you have to copy the large and small icons to your device ? i have done this and the warning icon is still small, if i just put the larger icons on the unit the icons on the map are solid red. I must be doing somthing wrong. this has only happened since the upgrade to version 8.300 I have map v810.1940

Would appreciate some advice

Cheers

8,300 does appear with much smaller icons in the top left corner for the warnings, this is down to TomTom as they code the application.
You do need both the normal icons and the x2 icons within the map folder for the POI icons to show correctly, the normal bmp files are what the unit displays on the map, the x2 bmp files are used for the top left corner warnings - Mike

Yes you need both icons. If no X2 icons is installed then it will use the standard icons used on the map to display the icon at top left and this will be very small.

Below are examples of the three possible options, (from left to right) the pre 8.3 X2 icon size, the standard icon size (i.e. no X2 icons installed) and finally the 8.3 X2 icon size as it appears in 8.3 or later.

Whilst the X2 icons are smaller post 8.3 they are not 'much' smaller when directly compared but if you do not use the X2 icons then yes, they are displayed at top left very small in post 8.3 releases.

Our database is now supplied with the X2 icons included as standard now by the way.

just upgraded to 815.2003 maps with navcore 8.3 on my 920T and not happy. It has messed things up completely which I will list in another thread. However, it no longer shows any Icon to the top left let alone a smaller version than it did before. I'll load the 44x44 to see if that fixes it.

You need the X2 icons (now inc in the Download). We used to offer 48x48 X2 icons but these are not supported under v8.3. If you use the X2 icons supplied in the current downloads you'll get the largest icons supported under 8.3.

You can test with an A to B route whilst sat at home/in the office.

just been on a drive and whilst they do appear they appear intermitently. some not appearing at all and some flashing on and off as the camera is approached. It seems to be speed related as when I am travelling slowly they seem to function as they should. Is this perhaps a result of the sluggish refresh some have identified? My whole unit now seems les responsive.

Less responsive since what? The 8.3 update or the icons install?

Do you have warn only on route enabled?

definitiely since the 8.3 install but it may be since the navcore update I did a week or so previous that it has not been as responsive when navigating menus and refresh on navigation seems a little jerkier.

No, I don't have warn only on route enabled.

Whereas before the left top large icon would pop up at the distance before poi i had it set to warn and stay there counting down to the camera, it now appears intermittently or sometimes not at all. I think it is less likely to appear and flashes on and off more when travelling at higher speeds.

Never seen that issue either myself or reported by others?

I really wonder about this. Trouble is I've been very quiet recently, not going out as frequently, so my mileage is down and I may be imagining things. But I have a sneaking feeling I might have some of this. Trouble is I don't pay them a lot of attention, simply because I'm invariably within the speed limits and they just serve to give me an occasional nudge. But I think I've glanced across and seen something either not there, or out of sync. Maybe also 70mph mobiles erratic display top left on motorways. One thing is for certain - on a local route there is a junction with redlight cameras and a 30mph Gatso beyond it. Because of my distance settings, I always used to get the Gatso first, then a redlight, then another redlight. Now I get redlight, Gatso, redlight. I have always had Gatso set to 300 yards, redlight to 100 yards.
