bearing in mind ( i think ) that most of the TomTom features and functions are software based.
Is there a reason why i cant be offered a upgrade from my TomTom One XL to a latter version to include IQ routes and features of later models ?
Thanks

Indeed, quite sure. It's just experience, I know from experience that these dates are plucked from thin air and then adjusted as time progresses. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Some features will always be reserved for the premium models. IQ routes being one of them. IQ routes will never be available on the ONE and XL ranges, sorry. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm thinking of upgrading my old garmin nuvi to a 940 can anyone help me with a few questions
1. Can you still use the standard TMC plug-in on the 940 if you go abroad or want to use it in the uk?
2. The garmin constantly beeps at you if you are overspeed when approaching a 'safety' camera which is a really nice feature, will the 940 do this if i download the PGPSW database?
Thanks |

There will be a solution for such use yes.

No, however you can set an overspeed alert independently. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Not legally anyway! Cough.
Considering the x40 devices are still being beta tested, I can't see them making 31st Oct to be honest either.
Can anyone? |

Given that Halfords and Dixons have both just put their release dates back 2 weeks to 5th and 7th of November respectively, I'm not really hoping for much. Amazon still say 31st, and dabs say 1-2 weeks.
Where are you getting your beta test info from? Any idea how much longer it is going to go on for? |

Lets draw a line under this lot please, there have been a few posts from forum members who have been selected for public beta testing, these posts have been removed to prevent any action against the individual who will have been under NDA, whether they realise this or not is another matter.
Anyone who is under NDA will not comment on specific questions relating to a test device, and neither should they. If someone has "information" about testing phases of a device and decides to post it on the forum then "take it with a pinch of salt" it is probably far from genuine.
Keep to the topic in question the x40 devices rather than who is/ might be testing them, and as for an on sale date its anyones guess - only TomTom will have an idea as to when this will occur - Mike |

Sorry, just eager/desperate* to get my hands on one and to get info as to when that might occur. Last time I was after a product prior to it actually going on sale, it ended up being two months later than originally scheduled
* delete as appropriate
Anyway, to an actual question - anybody know if the 540 will have an MP3 player / FM transmitter - I kinda assumed that it did, as the 530 does, but so far, I've seen at least one online shop say that it will, and at least one review that says it won't - see links below. Most places, including TT website don't mention it either way.

Whether you realise it or not, I am NOT under any NDA, from TomTom or anyone else, and I'd appreciate you paying a bit more respect towards me rather than alleging I am either a liar and/or stupid.
But since you are so insistent that discussion is banned, I will simply say this. The release dates listed on amazon and others and wrong. As Mike says - take my post with a pinch of salt, at least until I'm proved right.
Oh and Guinness2702... be patient and wait - you'll only be gutted if you buy a model on sale now, no matter how long til release date. |
