Hi Guys,
I hope i'm in the right place.
Does anyone know of a good cheap GPS tracking unit I can fit to my car?
If so where I could look?
I've looked on the net but the cheapest i can find is about £300 and you pay monthly for the service.
I'm after one that I can buy and not pay any service charge and be able to look where my car is on the net.
Any ideas guys.

I think the closest your going to get is the Snooper Tracker.
From what I've been told though it could rack up quite a phone bill if it's left on 24x7 as it uses a pay-as-you-go sim card.

You'll always end up with some sort of charge a you need to communicate back to your 'base'. The cheapest way is to use some form of SMS based technology.
But it depends what you want to use the device for. If it's just in case your car is stolen / reduction of insurance; then a "professional" solution would probably be best.
If you are just curious as to where your car was, then you could get away with a GPS datalogger and review the data when it gets back. This way you get a full track of where it's been. Devices to do this can be bought for ~£70 and no running costs. Some can be set up to track only when the vehicle is being used i.e. when the ignition is on.

Would you know where I might be able to get one of those data logger beasts?

have a quick google for Qstarz 1000 or 1300.
Check the hardware reviews on this site - they've reviewed quite a few.
