TMC Different Systems?

Recently I was asked to buy and set a up a Satnav for a friend. I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 and previously owned a Tom Tom Go. I looked at what was available and went for a Navman S80 as it ticked all the boxes and Halfords were knock them out at £140. On setting it up, I tested the Traffic Info system and was blown away with the huge amount of local detail that it gave, compared to my Nuvi 310. The Nuvi seems to only cover main roads, but the Navman gave really detailed local information covering the town centre and local roads. Does the Navman S80 use a better system? Can I get it on the Nuvi?

Garmin uses Traffic Master for the traffic information, Navman and TomTom use a company called iTIS for the traffic data they use, its not possible to obtain iTIS data using a Garmin device as far as I know - Mike
