|
|
Hi,
I've recently upgraded my TomTom One V2 (version 7.162) via Home software (from V6.560). Every thing went ok, except for one annoying thing. It only turns on once I remove the SD card, and then put it back in when it detects the card is missing. If the card is in from boot it fails to start! The maps are the europe version, the new SD card is a 2GB transcend 150x. Any ideas? |

Is this one of the ones with both internal memory AND an SD card slot? |

Yes, I think it does have both. |

Use Windows Explorer to look at the contents of the sd card. (It's just like looking at the contents of a hard drive). IF you see a folder named the same as a map you are using AND you see files listed NOT in a folder, especially a file called ttsystem, then your operating system is on the sd card. If ALL you see is JUST the map folder, then the operating system is in internal memory. |

I've had the same problem with my V2 (7.162, OS is on the memory card) - won't turn on unless the SD card is removed or the unit has external power.
Using the reset button on the bottom with a paper clip (hold down 10 seconds) seems to fix the issue for a while but occasionally the problem comes back. |

In the case of a TomTom One with both SD card slot AND internal memory the device will boot from the SD card if inserted, if there is no card it will boot from the internal memory.
The device cannot share memory locations it is one or the other.
To use the SD card you must have everything from the internal memory copied to the SD card (with the exception of the map) as you will be loading a different (larger) map to the memory card. - Mike |

Had that problem briefly. Fixed it with a hard reset as described using the paperclip. Never came back again - and as far as I know, the TTOne V2 has no internal memory. The OS and all data is stored on your SD card. |

Afraid not...
There have been (at least!) six versions of the "ONE", three or more of which were all called the ONE "New" or "2nd edition" (and all of which people tend to refer to as the "V2" although such a beast never existed!)
From info I have collected:
Quote: | TomTom One "New Edition"/"Second Edition": 4N00.004.2 (SD card only, no internal flash. SiRF Star III chip. Recognized as ONE v3 in the HOME device information.
TomTom One "New Edition"/"Second Edition": 4N00.012 , (SD card only, no internal flash. Hammerhead chipset. Serial # Z3xxxxxxxxxx
TomTom One "New Edition"/"Second Edition" (Europe): 4N00.005 - 1GB internal memory plus SD card slot, |
More details HERE and if anyone can add any further info, especially the "4N00" type numbers for the latest ones with the "easyport" mounts I'd be most appreciative! |
