Can anyone help me with a connection problem on a 520 with traffic using the subscription to tom-tom. I have been using my 520 connected to the Tom-Tom Traffic Service using the GPRS on my Nokia 6234 for a couple of weeks and it has worked perfectly ok. Tom Tom last week added an extra month to my 12 months subscription as a gesture of goodwill and since then the service has not worked. When I connect to traffic it goes through the functions of obtaining the information with the green dot and then comes up with a red X and a red screen with the wording “ Tom-Tom Taffic an error occurred on the tom-tom plus server please try again, Continue” despite trying this several times it will still not connect for traffic information. However when the same unit and telephone request tom-tom weather information it will provide it for any area or location. Does this mean that the phone and tom-tom 520 are talking to the TomTom servers correctly albeit not the one for Traffic and it is an internal problem with the tom-tom traffic server with my account. I have gone into my traffic account and attempted to reset the device but when I put in the same device and device number, it just comes up with “device not changed” . Is there any other way of reactivating the service or anything that can be done by the end user? I have sent a message to Tom-Tom via e-mail but this will probably take some time for a reply and unfortunately their telephone service is not available at weekends. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As the weather service is working your connection to the TT server is fine, this could be the T Traffic server is down or your account has a problem with it, if I were you I would try phoning TomTom Support first thing Monday morning (0845 161 0009) - Mike

Mike,
Thanks for that info. So would I be right in thinking that when the 520 communicates with the weather service, it uses the same settings as for traffic in the 520 and that there is nothing wrong with either the settings within the tom-tom or the phone and that the problem is related totally within the server at Tom-Tom as you said maybe on the account.

Yes, the device is using Bluetooth to connect to your phone which is then communicating with the servers at TomTom via its GPRS connection, the same data connection is used for Buddies, Weather and Traffic. - Mike

@dragon01

I have the same problem - and my sub was also extended by support

Can you login to your account with TomTom Home (I can't anymore)? Also, are your services listed on the MyTomTom page on their web site when you login?

This happens to me all the time. Communication between my 730 and my mobile is fine (as data is sucsessfully sent/recieved) and I can check weather etc.

I usually just put it down to the being a problem with the TT Traffic servers and leave the system be, where it usually then loads the next time it requests data (every 10min)
