I've had a Satmap for a week or so and I'm pretty happy with it. I was concerned that I'd have to create all my routes in the unit directly, which would have been a pain, but I've found that I can make a route (or path) in Google Earth and load this into the Satmap which works brilliantly (kml to gpx via GPSbabel).
Anyway, I was messing around with a cycle route I did today in the GPS Visualizer tool (www.gpsvisualizer.com -- this allows a route to be viewed in various ways and coloured by elevation or speed, etc). When I tried a plot of the route with speed data, the result was blank.
It seems that the only data that comes across with the '.gpx' file (satmap export format) is latitude, longitude & elevation. If you look at the native '.map' format that Satmap uses, there is far more data recorded, such as (I think) time now, speed now, ave speed, heading, elevation, etc ... ... ...
Am I missing something or is the .gpx format missing a lot of data?
Anyone know if Satmap plan to add more/all recorded data to the export .gpx format? Not a big issue I suppose, but it would make exploring recorded routes even more interesting/useful/fun.
cheers. |
