Snooper Strabo EU Edition

Recently bought a Snooper Strabo unit fro myself after using TomTom on my phone for years.
Registered fro the promotional Speed Camera updates for life, installed and run the software only to be greeted with an error message each time i try to update / download the speed camera database.
Have been in contact with Snooper about the issue which to be honest sounded like them scratching their heads and saying "um...don't know".
I followed the instructions giving in both the book and and the website and nothing seems to work.
The software does appear to download the files only it doesn't transfer them to the device, this is where i get the error message.
Snooper have said they have passed it onto their software developers for investigation.
I have tried both versions of the updater software from their website along with the following Operating Systems - (again listed on their website) - and with the recommended version of ActiveSync.

Windows XP Pro and Home - both SP2
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition - SP1 and non SP1
Windows 2000 - all editions

All are genuine Operating Systems with no other known issues on them, all are also bang up to date.
Also have tried installing and running the software without the Anti Virus running in case that was interfering - each OS has a different type and brand of Anti Virus, again all legit software used.

I think I've tried every avenue possible....

Anybody here had the same issues?

Any suggestions to anything i might have "missed" ?
