I recently bought the Nuvi 250W with European mapping. I am going to Spain in a couple of weeks (My brather lives there) and want to use the Nuvi there in my hire car. I tried to put my brother's address into the Nuvi but it doesn't recognise it. I can get to a nearby major road but the actual street is not found. When I look at the map vie, there doesn't seem to be very detailed mapping for the area. He doesn't live in the middle of nowhere so I am concerned about the useability of the European mapping. Is the European mapping as detailed as the UK mapping. What does 'Full European Mapping' mean otherwise?

Thanks for any help.

Well assuming you have City Navigator Europe 2008, Spain is supposed to be Full Coverage. If that's anything like here in Ireland, that should mean 99% of roads older then 2 years should be on the map. Howevere, roads and housing schemes built in the last 2 years or so may not be on the mapping. Are you sure you have the Europe Maps enabled on your GPS?? Settings / Map / Map Info, Europe 2008 ticked?? You may be just seeing the default basemap with major roads only if the map is not selected.

Even with the older V9 European maps my 660 had the house we "holidayed" in France last September. This was a house set up a private track about 1 mile long off a very minor road in the middle of a forest in Provence. The track was marked and the routing took us directly to the front door. My wife was well impressed as we never got lost once!

Spain was problematic in versions prior to NT 2008. Check you have the 2008 mapping. As it's a European mapping device you shouldn't need to enable specific areas - but I don't have direct experience of the 250W so this may not be the case.
