I decided to move W&CE maps to SD card and buy the new UK & RoI maps and put them in the internal memory, and I've just hit the first problem.
Although it's not a feature I usually use, I wanted to check Speech Recognition. I entered Navigate to, Address, Spoken address (dialogue) and, although it said "Please state city" the device displayed "One moment please... Preparing speech recognition (country was switched to United Kingdom". 15 minutes later it was still the same.
I've tried it with and without the card, and done a couple of resets. I'd appreciate any other suggestions!
Thanks. _________________ Anita

The last time it stopped for me (yesterday! - I never use it for real, but I like TRYING to show it off, but it never works!) I got it going again just by switching to a normal/real voice (Jane) and back to the TTS one (Simon) again. Then the speech recognition started working again. |

Thanks for the suggestion, Andy, but I'm afraid it didn't work for me. _________________ Anita

What files are in the new UK map folder, are there any named CSpeech or similar, compare the contents of the old Euro map and the new one and you will see the difference if it exists - Mike |

Do you have the appropriate voice files on the sd card as well as the map? I've been led to understand that VR is only working properly with multiple maps when the map and the appropriate voice files reside in the same location.
Just reporting it ...... don't have multiple maps to confirm ....... but info did come from a reliable source. |

Mike, cspeech_GBR.dat is 17,150KB in UK maps and 20,126KB in W&CE.
cspeech_IRL.dat is 2,101KB in UK and 2,219 in C&WE. _________________ Anita

Yes, dhn. I've just checked to be sure and the GB and Ireland speech files are in the UK map folder on the device and the W&CE map folder on the card. _________________ Anita

(grasping at straws .........)
When you tried the pin resets, were they with the sd card in or out of the unit? (I just KNOW you are going to say 'Both', but I have to ask ... ) |

Afraid you're right!
It couldn't be because I'm running 7.221 could it? Is it worth me trying the latest app? _________________ Anita

|
|
Hi Guys
Has anyone successfully updated to 7.2 maps using latest map guarantee ?
I'm running a 920T with 7.481 with W&CE 710.576.
See an earlier post that someone has 715.**** maps, when was this released? I only got my TT on the 7th April.
TT Home says I have the latest maps available !
Guarantee runs out tomorrow so have reported it to support - I'll keep you posted but they say they should honour it with a voucher download.
Cheers Darren for the Alpha GT cursor !! |

All that I've read about and experienced would lead me to believe that 7.221 is more reliable than 7.481!
Having said that, you may have nothing to lose .... as long as your 7.221 application is somewhere (safe) on your computer should you desire to revert back. |

Also can anyone confirm if there have been map corrections made at the junction off Chesser Av & Slateford Road, Edinburgh - It is now a T junction with lights but still has a roundabout on my TT & at Ricarton, Edinburgh, 2 roundabouts and a new road are still missing, these are not new roads (2005) and are shown on Google Earth. Have reported these through map share but still no changes (does map share work or are we just doing Tele Atlas's job for them ?). |

This update does raise concerns about a Navcore 8 release for x20 owners, why pay for v7.20 upgrade if a V8.05 upgrade is around the corner. Does this map upgrade include IQ routing and lane assist, if not when will this becoming? A Previous post implied that v8 maps may not be ready for x20 users, map data is device independent, and the x20 & x30 are indentical.
I wonder what version maps us beta testers will receive. |

IQ routing and lane assist is a v8 feature. Although TomTom have not made any announcement, I fully expect a v8 upgrade will be made available in due course.
The release of new v7 maps may however indicate that a v8 upgrade is not imminent. _________________ Darren Griffin |
