230 miles of love - a GPS sketch show about the M6!

Here's a novel and rather good use for your GPS. As the author Andrew Shanahan describes, "230 Miles of Love is a sketch show all about the M6 motorway that you can download and enjoy for free. You could say that it's like The Fast Show, but actually fast! (The jokes in the sketches are way funnier than that one.)".

The idea utilises the Rich POI features that some manufacturers are supporting. As you drive past a location it to triggers an .mp3 file installed on your GPS to play. If you don't have a compatible GPS device or perhaps aren't planning to travel the M6 in the near future then you can also download the sketch show as a Podcast for your .mp3 player. As Andrew suggests, if you are listening to this at home "you'll have to imagine you're on the M6. Try eating travel sweets, beeping occasionally and sitting still until your arse goes numb".

The show itself is well worth listening to, I've just lost a half hour of my day sampling it and laughing like an idiot. Compatible with Garmin and TomTom devices as well as any other GPS that has .mp3 playback capability, PDA's, Smartphones and standalone media players it is free to download. Contributions to the author's charity will be very welcome.

Travel Sweets are the staple diet of all drivers in the UK. Travel Sweets provide all of the nutritional needs that drivers require in order to keep them alert and fresh, even when dealing with motorway jams (stationary queues) of 20 miles or more. Wink

You can't beat a bit of gum, when you get stressed out with bad driving (by others of course) you are guaranteed to bite your tongue, which has the positive reaction of waking you up.

Well, the important part about texting while driving is to keep your phone under the window sills and staying in your own lane. Else cops tag you for reckless driving even without a specific law outlawing phone use specifically.

State laws vary, but here in Texas only school bus drivers and drivers under 18 are banned from using a cellphone while driving.
Here, they're crazy about anything alcohol and drug related.

Off topic? Yeah. But there really isn't much to say about the topic unless you're actually driving at least in the vicinity of that particular road ;)
