Hello everyone,

Most of you won't remember me but I'm trying to install my tomtom into my car permenantly. Now I've pretty much got everything figured out but before I start ripping my tomtom apart I was wondering if anyone has got a photo of their tomtom one apart with particular attention to the switch. I want to solder a couple of wires lead them off to a switch panel in the car. So I need to remove the current switch and replace the poles with wires which ends in a switch on a panel in the car. I've got the power all sorted and my intentions is to extend the speaker wire and move the speaker from inside the unit to outside the unit.

I'm not bad with a soldering iron but I'm not to clever on these tomtom versions so mine is... 4N00-012 if that helps

Many thanks
Justin

The on/ off switches in the TomTom devices are surface mounted to the PCB so your soldering skills better be good, it is possible but not that easy, IIRC the switch type is a momentary action push button, when switched off the TomTom isn't fully de-powered.

I took my 910 to bits last night and posted some pictures one of which shows the switch, whilst this is a different device it will give some idea of the PCB and associated soldering complexity. try a search using ''battery replacement'' to locate the thread containing the pictures - Mike
