Can you see what's in the left hand window? I've heard of an iPod Shuffle but this must be the new iPod Shuttle!

It's obviously a low crime area - can you imagine leaving an iPod on display in a car like that Rolling Eyes

Yeah but if you look they've also gone out and left the back doors open, just like the old days.

And the Sky dish hasn't been nicked either....

...being slightly more serious - if GPS works for docking space vehicles to a space centre, then (presumably) there's no reason why GPS wouldn't work on the Shuttle

Indeed not, they use GPS on the Shuttle already and the new ESA Space Truck is using it for automatic guidance to the ISS.

GPS orbit is way farther out than any Shuttle or ISS orbit so it works fine albeit the software might need tweaking else it'd be confused by the increased number of satellites it can see over a ground based receiver.

Now what's that I see in the left hand window?

Somebody soesn't know their left from their right Rolling Eyes

the iPod was quoted as being in the LEFT hand window

now, the GPS is quoted as being in the left hand window, but on the opposite side

Just a minute - in the glovebox, is that one of the Black Dyke CDs acquired from DennisN's van? (Mind you, he always thought his music taste was out of this world Cool)

Sorry for being ''On Topic'' in this Off topic area, BUT the shuttle uses military spec GPS which works to a far higher altitude than commercial grade devices, take your average TomTom or Garmin on that rocket and it will not know where it is before the SRB's have finished their firework display in the initial 2 minutes of the climb, it wold take far more than a simple tweek of the software for comercial units to work up there - Mike

Now that's what I call a proper RDS-TMC aerial! I bet they know all the traffic jams up there.

Aw c'mon Mike - you'd fix it up in two shakes of a number two Phillips. Thumbs Up (and a spell-checker) Twisted Evil
