pocketgpsworld.comTomTom have today announced the public release of firmware version 7.480.9084 for GO x20 devices (GO 520, 720 and 920).

Amongst numerous unspecified minor improvements (aka bug fixes), v7.480.9084 adds support for TomTom's recently announced HD Traffic Receiver which we covered in our CeBIT News reports here.

The update will as usual be available to download using HOME 2x from today.

Has anyone tried it out yet. I will wait a few days to see how it goes before updating my 520T Smile

It has installed without issue on my 720.

Thanks Darren. I am looking at 'the other' site but nothing there yet. I have all day to ponder.

At least 4 or 5 users in the North American TomTom forum who somehow got this release in the last week have reported that Voice Recognition no longer works on their 720 and 920 units! (now, this in the North American version of the units).

I queried a member of the forum who works for TomTom and asked if TT had heard of the problem. He asked around and said that yes, support had already gotten half a dozen calls about the problem.

He said that support is telling users to try the Clear flash tool and if that doesn't work, then to revert to a lesser firmware version.

Personally, I'm leary of downloading this update until I see more feedback from users vis-a-vis the VR problem.

I think you'll find that the version that was released and then withdrawn sharpish was 7.480.9083.

I have installed this latest update and now am unable to use the "Operate my Device" from within Home v2.2. I get an error saying that my device is not yet supported (TomTom 720). It does give you the option to fire off the now standard report to TomTom (anonymously as usual)... So I fired off a few of them in my complete frustration in being used as a Beta tester.... Yet again!!!!

I've never used that function, completely pointless IMHO. Mind you I try not to use HOME wherever possible!
