Hi,
Does anyone know of any smartphones running Windows mobile OS (either available now or due soon) that have an inbuilt GPS receiver - so that you can run Sat Nav without the need for an external GPS receiver?
Many thanks

I think Mio may have one on the go soon.

It is reported to have a PDA size screen with onscreen touch pad for dialing out.

FAIK it's probably voice prompted as well so once the data are in there it's basically totally handsfree

Darren

What is the difference between a PDA phone and a smart phone - is it just the size. Is a PDA phone better for running TT5 because of the bigger size.

A PDA Phone runs the Pocket PC operating system, and has a touch screen. Here you can run TomTom Navigator.

A Smartphone runs the Smartphone operating system and does not have a touch screen. Here you cannot run TomTom Navigator, but instead need to use TomTom Mobile.

And as if matters were not confusing enough, that's a smartphone not a Smartphone.

The big letter S Smartphoen denotes a handset running Windows Mobile, small letter s denotes all other phones with similar functionality.

I don't know of any Smartphones or smartphones available with built-in GPS but there are a few PocketPC Phone Edition handsets with built-in GPS available right now.

Nokia N61 if its out yet, was announced with the Nokia sat nav application IIRC built in GPS - probably the first consumer phone fitted with GPS technology. Give it another year and GPS on phones will be as common as phones with cameras I think. - Mike

Huh? Question Show me where the N61 (a blackberry focused phone that doesn't even have a camera) has built in GPS. I've looked at all the specs on the site and didn't see anything about built in GPS (however i did see the LD-3W bluetooth GPS listed as an accessory...)

As i said before, the N95 is already out, and has been for at least a month. So that would make it "probably the first consumer phone fitted with GPS technology", wouldn't you think?

Ok, OK so I was working from memory and posted using a phone (they are not too got for searching with TBH) - if you have a look at the 6110 from Nokia you will find the device I was actually meaning, I got the first two digits and the make right! - Must try harder next time, see This for more information - Mike
