CoPilot Live6 and GPRS query

Apologies to everyone if this is a totally novice question but I'm a total newbie to this sort of thing.

I've just bought a 2nd hand o2 xda orbit with copilot live 6 installed. When I open the application it comes up with a message stating that it's connecting to GPRS, is this working correct and will I be charged for this on my phone bill?
I thought sat nav worked with GPS, not GPRS?

apologies again if this is a ridiculous question.

It will use GPRS for data from the co-pilot web site, this can be costly so I would check on your GPRS tarrif what the cost per MB will be, otherwise disable any of the data related services within the software to prevent it downloading information - Mike
