any news on when this will be released for current users?

copilot central tells me there's an update - clicking on info tells me it's from november 07... however, after downloading it it doesn't seem to actually install anything to the device and the release number stays at 7.0.6.68!

I had similar headscratching when Copilot Central was telling me there was an update for the software on my device. They don't make it very clear, but the way to apply the update to your device is as follows:

1.
Use CoPilot Central and ensure you have created an account (top right of Central) and that you have logged in, and Central will provide an update and allow you to download
2.
This will download the updated CAB file installers to your PC
3.
Perform a Data Download to your device (from within CP Central choose the create a map option) transferring the map data and selecting the SUPPORT FOLDERS to ensure that the QuickStart 2577 folder and speech folders are transferred to your device Storage Card.
4.
Unisntall and re-install CoPilot on your device

So, Copilot central will download the update to your PC, you then use CP Central to recreate your storage card (and it will put the CAB file for the new update in your 2577 folder, which will get autorun on your device when you reboot after uninstalling the "old" version of Copilot).

Hope this helps.

I too have been puzzled by this so-called update; I posted a question to ALK support and they just said download the update but they couldn't say what it did!
I have downloaded it now and updated my device-but not using the procedure outlined by MortalWombat above- but my device version is still shown as 7.0.6.68.
If anyone has downloaded it, can they post the new version number and say what the update has done?

I did as MortalWombat said above. It worked just as he said.

My CoPilot 7 version was v7.0.6.68, and it is now v7.7.0.134.

I have not tried it out yet. I am hoping it fixes the fact I couldn't search for highways before. Like it couldn't find OR-62 in Medford, Oregon. Somehow I was just supposed to know that the locals call it "Crater Lake Highway". I also couldn't just search for "highway" otherwise "Highland Road" would be the closest match."
