Looking through my POI categories I have noticed six categories named "pocketgps uk pmob" (20 - 70). I can only assume they were downloaded when installing an updated camera data base. I have never selected these for use as the mobile warnings that I selected originally work fine. My question is - what are these for and should I select them ??? Many thanks. tosher.

Whether you should use them is up to you, they are Provisional Mobile camera locations, that is reported locations that as yet still require verification by one of the team of verifiers. The location might be valid there again it might not - it is up to you - the files were asked for by a few "vocal" site members a while back - Mike

Right next to the box where you select your satnav system on the Camera download page, is a panel labelled "Expand for Information About the pMobile Files".
Click on the "+" sign to expand the panel for more information.

Mike, MaFt and the team... I've always thought these should have been kept as a separate download just for those who want them, rather than included with the main confirmed data..

Totally agree they should be separate, it's a pain in the arse having to delete them every time.

FURTHERMORE - In my sweet innocence, I firmly believe pgpsw Team would be able to set a counter to see how many people download them - at present, the "vast majority" of members download them, like the "vast majority" of members wanted them in the first place! Rolling Eyes

You're kidding right? How long does it take to select two files and hit the delete key?

Why un-zip them in the first place?

Just select those you want, and off you go.

Yes fair point, it does depend on which set you use I guess. But even so, it's the work of a few seconds to Ctrl-Click the pmobile files and hit the delete key.

That's strange, the archive i download has 14 PMobile files that have to be removed, and 28 if you include the .CSV version.

For my sins, I have 30 - the 28 you tell of, PLUS I also download the CSV single file ones.

Let's get back to thumping the table to get them as a separate download so that we can avoid them (and so that PGPSW can count how many people do download them).

Where's that soapbox smileycon again?

Which reminds me - Mostdom is off in wherever, skiing and has missed the opportunity to buy TT's latest offering of a lovely alpine ski resorts map at nearly the same price as the Western Europe map!

What?

This year I took my Garmin edge gps with me and logged hundreds of miles of skiing about mountains, and all uploaded into Google earth. Who needs TT maps. Screen shots later. p.s. top speed 84mph.
