Sorry if this has been posted before, but thought it might be useful for basic TTOne users to know the practical effect of different speed SD cards.

I've just upgraded my TTOne (v5 to v7 software + latest UK maps) and needed to move from the 128Mb SD card to a 256Mb, so I used the newish standard Integral card from my camera (after reformatting). The TT then took 20-25 seconds to shut down, every time, instead of the original 4-5 seconds - although everything else seemed OK.

So I bought a high speed Integral card for about £6 and now the TT is back to around 4 seconds to shut down. For completeness, tried reformatting the original card again and reloading it but still 25 seconds to shut down with the slower card.

Maybe there are other effects, but it is quite obvious that the standard SD cards (1.5Mb/sec write speed) are far too slow and you need a 10Mb/sec write speed. Having said that, what the h*ll is all the data the TT is writing at shut-down?

Hi Gnomeface,

I think you need to review your SD card. 256MB is still a little small. Try ti aim for a 2GB High speed card (x150 or higher). If you search amazon for sd x150, you should find it ok. Hang on...

try this

TT is writing your current position and the route you currently have planned. This will also include POI amendments, mapshare etc...

Hope this helps you out.

TTFN

NB- DO NOT GO FOR THE 4GB SDHC. This format does NOT WORK in TT devices.

As it's for UK maps only it's fine for me, even with the detailed speed camera lists and voices, my own colour schemes, etc. Wish I had the latest Postcode file though - mine's so old it doesn't even have a ver file - but I'm waiting for TT to respond on that. Maybe the lack of a ver file was what stopped it from downloading a later version when I bought the new map?

Of course - thanks for that. The new high speed Integral card has restored the delay to an acceptable 3-4 seconds.
