Maps and Version

Just got my X970t on New Years Eve, but sadlt only Version 6.5.3.

I've sent off for V7 (after getting a voucher emailed from VM as there wasn't one in the box) , but it has to be sent by 31 Dec to qualify, so may not get it. The question is that if the version is so old are the maps old as well? How can I tell?

Also, with V8 out in March (apparently) will I need to pay for it?

It's a bit disappointing to get a spanking new unit to find the software out of date.

From the Main Menu click Settings-General-About to get all the current version information. Maps are issued twice a year so 2006.1 would mean and early 2006 map, which you most likely have.

I would suggest contacting ViaMichelin and asking them to allow you to update to V7 for free. Fairly up to date 2007maps come with the software.

If you got a substantial discount on the retail price they may not allow that though, you need to send your receipt with the request!

Not sure how a private transaction can affect the level of support for a product, if it was bought in the offer timeframe. any way, we'll see.

the first screen says Cartography Edition 2007, but the second screen says Digital Cartographic data c Tele Atlas 2006.
