I have BOTH ide and sata - don't ask me why, that's what the man did when he built it - when I got my next drive I didn't have the right cable.

Anyway, that word about iWork may just have earned you a point (oops, pint even) at the next Expo.

STOP posting new stuff before I've answered old stuff. Stop it!

My tree is blue and made of plastic!

You're asking Dennis to do what? You know full well if he looked into the system files he'd get lost without his 720, also looking at the systemfiles is like looking at a map of MK without postcode. Besides you'd be depriving him of an oppertunity to pull his machine apart, why do you think I broke mine! Very Happy

I'll bet your fancy Mac couldn't tell you the type and serial number of the D drive if it was dead, smartypants southerner! My C drive and L drive are alive but one is IDE and the other is SATA and the D drive is one of those. The only reason it matters is because of the cable to plug into the hole place.

When I open up, it'll be a case of eeny meeny miny mo to decide which is D. Actually, on reflection I know L is SATA because that's the new one I got, C will be the one next to the little red light, so D will be the other one - even stupid old men are bright occasionally! Idea Idea

Even WITH his multitude of 720s, there's a danger of getting lost Laughing

....but Dennis sounds like he's a bit more computer literate than a lot of people

That depends upon just how dead it is....and for the record, I'm a NORTHERNER...born and bred in t'north and proud of it

It's often possible to recover data easily from a 'dead' drive...much to the frustration of many dubious insurance claimants I've caught out

This will surely depend upon how the machine was built - master and salve drives can be in either slot, it's all down to system configuration Laughing

Yer, I can see him now laughing at your feeble attempts to help him when he knows exactly how to do it already. In fact I suspect he has already replaced his drive before you finnished your last post. Twisted Evil

Come off it - I haven't even had my shave yet, never mind open the box to look at cables. Hmm - I wonder, if C is 150Gb, D is 250 (which doesn't show up - it goes C, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M) and L is 250, would it take a bigger new D? Or would it be better to get to grips with iWork? If only they did a fast Bluetooth mouse - that Mac one is so slow I can walk across the screen faster!! Going to be Aaaard today, designer stubble and off to Bedfordshire. Shame really - on me, designer stubble that's visible looks like Steptoe!!

Have you tried changing the mouse speed in System Preferences?

I haven't heard any other complaints about it...but I don't use one myself

Come on!! You can do better than that - I was changing mouse speeds before you got your first pair of long pants!! Surely somebody is going to come on here and say that Bluetooth speed isn't like a USB cable, so however fast I jiggle my mouse, it's never going to be like my PC one? Won't they?

Do that and the poor little thing gets frightened and skips across the screen like a rocket propelled lemming. If your not carful you'll loose it under your recycle bin or somin'. Very Happy

...one final comment before I go - could it be that surface upon which you're using the mouse??

Some optical rodents can act up if they don't like the mouse mat colour or texture and if it's a genuine Apple mouse, it will be optical (I found out the hard way that my old mouse might wasn't liked by the pesky mouse).

I'm sulking now, so you can sort out iWork and whatever else all on your little ownsome - so there Twisted Evil - and according to a report yesterday, the average bad mood lasts 12 hours Angry

I'm not one to hold a grudge - I just have a good memory Laughing Laughing

Aw c'mon, I wasn't serious! If you keep on like this you'll seriously jeopardise that drop of tipple!

Anyway I hadn't thought of the surface - my rubbish PC mice work on anything, more or less. When I visit offices I always look to see if anybody's gotta Mac and peer at them to see what they're doing - I'm sure they never have special mouse mats. So I'll give it a try later (maybe at half time?) and use a whole selection of mats I've got.

Say I'm forgiven and I'll put you back on the pDrinks list Not Worthy (subject to Verification Taunt ).
