OK, had this thing for 18 months now, during which time TT have had it for 3 months "repairing it" losing it and eventually giving me a new one.

10 months later and 9 months of using it and its goosed again with the same problem - contacts on back not making contact - non charging and switching on and off continually - this time in the middle of a holiday so it was back to maps

not even bothering to send it in - off to the bucket it goes

Sorry to hear that, two of us here are bikers and I put 20,000 miles on my ST last year and no problems with the mount. Others I know have been less lucky. It does seem that mounting in certain places or on vibey bikes can be the cause and highlights a weakness in the original mount design.

Too late for you I know but RIDER2 has a much more secure mount that has resolved the issue of vibration.

Both times it was Harleys - first time Fatboy then Glide

Bottom line is that the TT rider 1 mount is not fit for purpose and TT have a head in sand approach on this..shame as the rest is a great product

Having looked at the TT Rider 2 I believe it will be a matter of time before it starts going same way. Problem is the four pin contact connector - for a few pence more they could have fitted something robust - even the power into the cradle is better

Whilst trawling the net for a replacement spotted Halfords no longer seem to stock the Rider, only Garmins - too many being returned I wonder?

For anyone suffering the same problem some friends and I discovered a little inexpensive easy fix for this.

Buy a car charger
Drill a hole through the door at the bottom of the unit
Disconnect the cradle power supply
Use the car charger instead
Bit of silicone round the drill hole for water proofing
Job done

Works a treat - no more non charging, switching on/off/rebooting
Total cost £15 and 15mins time
And 3 pints for the design team!!
