OK, I wasn't going to start this until Thursday afternoon, at which time I'd have started off by saying "This time tomorrow, I'll be in this ...

so whilst all you lot are slaving, I'll be sunning and getting ready for the Amstel bears. My room is behind the palm trees on the far right".

But I'll probably be too busy to do it tomorrow, so I'll do it now.

To keep you all amused during my absence, Discuss the following...

Real Men don't use Cruise Control, only Southerner Softy Pantses use it. I thought of this when I read of a certain A4 doing 90 across France and thought he wouldn't have the strength in his ankle to keep the accelerator that hard down.

I'll try to keep an eye on you from the Time Out internet cafe, so behave yourselves.

What, no Germans nicking all the loungers? What country is this?

I use it all the time in the car. It helps me maintain a steady speed without ending up going too fast.

You set it to (ahem) 70 MPH and it holds that speed so you don't find yourself slowing to 55 or 60 up hills or (heaven forbid) creeping up to 71 MPH going down hill. It holds a nice steady speed and you can concentrate on driving...

Also good for SPECS zones in road works etc.

I forgot to say that Southern Softy Pantses isn't as far south as that!

When I said "My room is behind the palm trees", I meant precisely that - about another two yards beyond where you can see, and it has a ground level balcony - you can hop (well, I struggle) over the rail and beat even Germans to the sunloungers. But anyway, they're not allowed in - there are only three apartments for all that pool!

I'm with Skippy (not literally) on this. I use my cruise when and wherever I can. And I'm from the Midlands, so fall into neither of your categories.

I use it but prefer the Merc system which can be cruse control or speed limiter, this last mode lets you modulate the cars speed using the pedal but will never exceed a set level - works much better in heavy traffic.

Enjoy the holiday, let us know if the old 710 works out there Wink - Mike

Will do Mike. But I have to really take care of it now - it's the only one I've got now that the 720 has been refunded. From 3 to 1 in less than two weeks, how are the mighty fallen. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Nobody will recognise me out on the road now - anonymity looms large!!

Is that bars on the window or just a reflection? Laughing Laughing

Only a picture and no coordinates? Oh dear, what sort of GPS user do you think your are? ....not to mention ommitting to tell us where to point that missile Laughing

I'm sure the peasants will be breathing a sigh of relief knowing that they're safe from your van for a while Wink

Try not to miss us all too much while you're cuddling up to a nice cold bear.

Have a good one Cool

A conundrum - do you fall into neither category, both categories (north and south) or does that depend upon the topic at a given time?

I also like to use cruise control to maintain a steady and constant speed.

Antarctica? Or has someone gone moving it again? Laughing

...and surely the flagrant north/south discrimination shown by Dennis is against some forum rule or other - quick, somebody revoke his game licence Wink Rolling Eyes

I have to take my GO710 with me - it's my very only one left since the 720 went back and refunded yesterday, so I simply dare NOT leave it hidden in the van at the airport parking. I may be tempted to try seeing how fast it will go in the plane, but it does say you shouldn't, so perhaps not. But I'll certainly switch it on some time when we are out there, not least to see if it actually displays coordinates for you! I'm curious to see if it will know where it is without TT's maps to lock to - blank screen with coordinates in Browse Map (I'm sure somebody here already knows the answer to that, but humour me).
