Hi all... my first post here after lurking for a while reading up on the Tomtom 720 issues.

I have one that on the whole works well (with a Sony w810i working fine with handsfree/sms etc.), and I've just signed up for traffic for the first time.

I wanted to ask about the traffic options. I've seen/read somewhere (although I can't recall exactly where!) that in the event the traffic situation changes on-route the 720 can ask if you if you want to use an alternate (theoretically faster) route. You can I believe then answer "Yes" or "No" to the spoken question...

In order for this to happen, do I need "Automatically minimise delays after every traffic update" (Traffic Preferences) set, or will that just force it to always change the route without asking?

Any assistance appreciated... Most TT features are intuitive enough, but I'm not so sure about this one.

Thanks

I do not have mine set to automatically select the fastest route, and it asked me the other day if I wanted the shortest route writing that it would include holdups but that it was quicker. It then waited for a Yes or No, verbal response.

I could not get it to confirm the Yes response, so it fairly quickly timed out and continued as if I had said No.

Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul... I'll leave it off for now and see how it goes.

My interpretation of the wording was such that it probably wouldn't ask you, but continually update the route automatically if set... which would appear to be the case from what you're saying.

Cheers,

Matt
