Hi, is there anyway to get a TomTom to only give an audible warning if you are over the speed limit?

My friends Road Pilot does and I wonderd if there was a way to get the TomTom to do it.

Not with a TomTom Go device, it will offer a POI Warning when set up to do so, but it will do this irrespective of speed, CheckPOI used to offer this sort of capability for the PDA based software but that doesn't work too well with the more recent releases of TomTom software, Talex does claim to do what you want (for speed cameras) but I have no idea as to the accuracy of the supplied database, and I am not too sure if it would work with the database from this site.

If you want an overspeed warning at all times the newer x20 devices do perform this function, so it is possible when using more modern hardware, or wait and see if a software update at some future point is offered to put this capability on the earlier Go products - Mike

TrafCam does this on TomTom Go, it is user-selectable for speed-sensitive and direction-sensitive warnings. We don't have that data for every camera in the database, but for the majority.

We also have some trouble running against the latest version of TomTom on the Pocket PC - TomTom say it's because they haven't updated the SDK to work with the new versions yet. Nice to know it's not just us.

Note to mods: feel free to remove this if you think it's inappropriate or a blatant ad.

What happens when you not speeding as you get to the camera, but as you get faster over that line you are speeding, then you get a ticket and no warning, as that is a easy thing to do with new cars.

You've answered your own question, you get a ticket!
