I'll go the whole hog and borrow Tommo's strobes too Wink

Knowing my luck it would be an unmarked police car and I'd get done for inpersonating a police officer Sad

Yes, it does happen Crying or Very sad

A few years ago, my boss was being followed by a police car, who then proceeded to pull him over for not leaving enough room BEHIND him Confused

He got straight on the phone to this guy's superior officer and put in a complaint.

My mate got done for that. The cop kept baiting him, overtaking him then slowing down about 3 or 4 times. Eventually he just followed the (unmarked) cop about 18 inches behind, including though a series of corners. The next time he overtook, the cop put his lights and siren on...

That reminds me of a 'story' once relayed to me. Traffic cops see a mini being driven erratically on a motorway, so they signal the driver to stop. The driver appears to ignore them, so the cops pull up alongside and to their amazement they sees a little old lady, knitting whilst driving.

The cops are amazed and the passenger winds down his window, frantically waving to the woman to get her attention. When she eventually sees him, she winds down her window to see what the fuss is about. The cop shouts to her "PULL OVER", to which she replies "NO DEAR, IT'S A PAIR OF SOCKS".

Sorry folks.. Rolling Eyes

Which is a far better tale than the two preceding ones, albeit equally unlikely.

Indeed. Unless they're funny, I take no notice of 'Police Tales'. By the time they have been passed down the line, they have grown arms and legs and bear no resemblance to the truth !

That's better. Thanks Richard. Usually if I make a mistake (very rare of course) I just edit it, but don't get that feature any more. I must remember to preview.

The 'Edit' has been removed from the "Off Topic" forum because because were posting messages and then messing about with them after people had replied to make people look stupid.

So, for the "Off-Topic" we can 'Quote' and 'Delete' whilst the choice is 'Quote' or 'Edit' for all other areas.

Sadly, it's the usual tale of the few spoiling it for the rest Crying or Very sad

How about this one then for what is supposed to be a true story:

THIS IS A TRANSCRIPT OF AN ACTUAL RADIO CONVERSATION OF A US NAVAL SHIP WITH CANADIAN AUTHORITIES OFF THE COAST OF NEWFOUNDLAND IN OCTOBER, 1995. RADIO CONVERSATION RELEASED BY THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS 10/10/95.

Americans: Please divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.

Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES' ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

Canadians: We are a lighthouse. Your call.

Quote:
A huge C-5 cargo plane was sitting near where a small plane was waiting to take off. The private pilot got a little nervous because the military plane was closer than normal, and asked the tower to find out the intentions of the C-5. Before the tower could reply, a voice came over the radio as the C-5's nose cargo doors opened, saying, "I'm going to eat you." (Ack E Scharzmann)
