Basically I'd like to ask the best and brightest here, if I can use this sleeve with a normal nav system. Like TomTom?

I've just ordered one, and suddenly thought, `What if it uses a proprietry system for it's data.` Hope someone can help me. Otherwise my bargain turned into a lemon

Cheers

Assuming that you install the appropriate driver for the jacket so it exposes it's "COM" port you should be able to use it with any other application (namely TomTom). Beware that it uses exotic settings for the NMEA stream: 57600 with update rate every two seconds.

Configuration GPS

Taux de transfert : 57600, 8, N, 1

Mise à jour : Toutes les 2 secondes

Message en sortie :

NMEA 0183 version 2.20,

GPGGA et GPRMC, 2s

GPGSA et GPSSV, 4s

Thanks for the prompt response, hmmm, Well I'll soon tell you if it works or not in practice once I receive it. It's got to work slightly better than my old navman 3000 (45 mins lock on anyone).

Just received the unit, (Thank you total pda), It works fantastic, the only thing I had to do was change my gps driver settings to the 3000 series driver. I'm a happy bunnie. Lock times have gone from up to 45 mins (or not at all) to about ooooh 5 secs.
