I'm not too sure about the 920, but it seems like the 720 has been getting great reviews. For those of you who have one, what do you think of the mapshare feature? It seems exciting.. does anyone have any experience with it? |

SDHC isn't supported by TomTom so unless you can get a non-SDHC card then you might be stuck with 2Gb. I use an Integral high speed 2Gb card and Darren has a SanDisk Ultra 2Gb card in his GO720. |
Hi Tim, already posted something similar elsewhere but is it a case of TomTom just saying they don't support it. My 720 arrived yesterday and I already had a couple of 4gb Sandisk SDHC cards which were bought for my Ipaq before realising the issues with SDHC. They did not work but stuck them in my 720 and no problems reading mp3s and a map. Running v7.010 so unless TomTom have revised the hardware in between SDHC shoud be compatible well Sandisk ones anyway.
One thing though I am using TomTom Home 2 and it cannot see the SD card so I have been manually adding the files via a card reader. Is this normal?

Even if Home isn't recognising it, your PC should recognise the Flash Memory and the SD card slot as two separate new hard drives. Is that not happening? |

nope, can see the TomTom's internal memory but not the SDHC card.
Will try with a standard SD card to see what happens. |

| The plot thickens, tried a run of the mill 512mb sd card and both Home and Windows picked it up. Stuck the 4GB SDHC back in and as before the 720 sees and reads it fine but Home and Windows cannot. Not a big issue for me as I just use a SD to USB adapter to transfer the files but highlights that issues still remain so probably best to stick to standard SD cards unless like me you had some SDHC one's already bought. |

Apologies if these have already been asked. I haven't gone through all 28 pages.
I am thinking of picking one of these up, but have a few questions. Would be really grateful if anyone has the answers.
1. Does this work with Vista Ultimate? I read on Amazon it is not usable on Vista.
2. Can I use the speed camera database from this site? Main reason for buying one is getting my first speeding ticket ever the other day 
3. I read somewhere that broadcasting music via FM transmitter is useless as the volume is so low. Is this true, or does it work well? Also, can you have voices transmitted via FM as well, so you can hold a hands free call with their voice coming out of the car speakers? And navigation whilst listening to music too through the car speakers?
Sorry for so many questions - would be very grateful if anyone has the answers. |

Volume IS low. Quality not bad though.

Navigation voice yes. Incoming call voice no - that always comes from the internal

Note that the above quoted red bit is a teeny weeny  error on TomTom's part and should read "Note: Hands-free calls are always played over the internal speaker". It doesn't really matter - except to a zillion users like me!!

Oh God, I'd missed that!
Funny how you read what you expect to read 
Doubly annoying because only last night I finished emailing TT a long list of errors and omissions in the 520/720 manual (I'd reported one and TT foolishly asked my to tell them about the others I'd hinted at). |

Did you by any mention that the manual doesn't tell you how to navigate by voice instruction? I mean, the manual merely says you can do it by answering the questions or prompts.

I did... and it doesn't mention the "Spoken address (dialogue)" option at all. It's not even on the screen picture.
Going back to BG's problem (his post on the 9th at 10:49 pm), the PC should still recognise the 720 as two drives even with no SD card in the slot at all.
Have you tried deleting all references to the TomTom in Device manager? (Settings/Control Panel/System/Hardware, on XP), and then letting the PC re-find it as "new hardware"? |

On my Mac it only shows the internal drive if no SD card is inserted.

Well that is the IMHO correct response, it can't mount a disk that isn't present! What;'s the point of showing an empty memory card slot?
