javascript:emoticon('Idea') Hi, I'm looking for a bluetooth gps receiver which can be hard wired into the car electrics, and will auto switch on when car is started. it will need bluetooth connection to enable it to connect to my N73 and TT6. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Holux GPSlim236 will perform this way, which ever device you go for you need to make sure the GPS unit has a true on/ off switch (not just a press once to start style button) also you need to ensure it doesn't auto power down when the Bluetooth link is lost to the PDA (which some devices do) - The GPSlim236 is ideal for this application - Mike

Mike - I bought a Holux GPSlim 236 and want to power it permanently, from the car's lighter socket (I am wiring one in under the dashboard, unswitched via a low voltage cutout device to save the battery from going flat).

I've heard it mentioned that the battery will need to be removed to avoid memory effect or similar, so is it safe to operate the device with no battery, permanently fed in this way?

Indeed it is, I had mine wired in just such a way in the boot of my last car for many months without any issues.

Hardwire the 236 would be fab... I am tired of so many cables!... Could it be done to the radio cables? Are there any instructions on how to do it and what parts are needed?
Just gimme a hand and I will go for it!
