Personally I fail to see what is funny about that. The driver made a mistake clearly but why the idiots filming couldn't help instead of laughing at them beggars belief.

With the Police already stretched I wonder if they'd be laughing if it was they who had called the Police and were left waiting?

totaly agree with you Darren, they dont know where those police were heading but clearly it was an emergency as they had the sirens on. Those filming could have had least had their little laugh then helped push the police van

It isn't just the he went a little bit fast, he was going so fast that the water went fair over the top of his van. Bit of a common sense failure on the driver's part but obviously their "advanced driver training" didn't extend to how to ford a river! Rolling Eyes

I hope they use this in an advanced driver training session in future. It would be a powerful reminder to them that they aren't invincible just because they have lights and siren on!

While I'm sympathetic to the Police trying to get to an emergency, I can't keep a straight face. I'm going to laugh at this one. Laughing

As a Van driver he would not necessarily have had any advanced training. Often all that happens is a quick check drive and instruction on when to use lights and siren etc.

I am surprised...you mean even 'van drivers' heading out on an emergency don't come under the police 'advanced driving' course...then who does ? No wonder there are so many police involved accidents.

There's no legal requirement for any Blue Light user to have advanced training but force guidelines normally require some level of assessment and impose limits on what can be used and when by non-advanced drivers.
