|
|
Hi,
I've just had my GO510 repaired by TomTom where they replaced the motherboard. It will now only work with the original SD and UK map that it came with and will not work with the backup copy on a 2GB SD card with the Western Europe map which I bought through HOME.
At least, it works fine when connected to my PC through HOME but as soon as I disconnect the USB cable it reboots and goes through the initial setup again and tells me to activate the map.
The keyboard it shows does not have a space bar so I cannot enter xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx to activate it. I end up with 15 charcaters without a space so the activation fails.
Strange or what? Works perfectly through HOME but fails when its disconnected.
Can anyone help as I'm going away tomorrow and wanted to setup an itinerary.
Many, many thanks for your anticipated help. |

1. Ignore the spaces. It is correct to just enter all the letters/numbers of the activation code.
2. If they have given you a different unit rather than repaired yours (very likely), you will have a different device code now. You might need to get a new activation code, by entering both the device code and the map's product code into www.ttcode.com
Find the device code by tapping on the small box with the software version, on the route overview page. |

Thanks for the reply Andy.
As I said I've got my old device back but with a new motherboard hence the device code is the same.
I've been back to check the product code and am trying to enter it but it says its wrong.
When I insert my spare SD card (which worked perfectly before) it wants it to be activated then refuses to accept the activation code.
The dumb thing is, it all works perfectly through HOME, as I said, but as soon as I pull out the USB cable it reboots and goes through the initial setup all over again and refuses to accept any other additional map which I've purchased.
I've even tried reinstalling the downloaded map sat in HOME which works fine until I pull out the USB.
It's a real #'$@ as I'm going for a weekend away in a few hours and desperately need it. |

I've gone back to basics and the results are as follows:-
It will ONLY run with the original TomTom SD card. If I backup the original file to a larger SD card it won't run and resuses to activate the map.
All my SD cards work perfectly if I'm attached to HOME but as soon as I unplug it, it refuses to work despite me having no problems in the past. |

You say you are entering the product code.
Was that a typo? It's the activation code you need to be entering |

I think it's time to add this to the FAQ's section. No? |

It can't do any harm whatsoever & some have found it does also work on non-X10 series. |

Sorry for the delay just got back from an extended weekend away.
I logged a call with TomTom who kindley sent me a link to the ROM flash patch mentioned above. All working again, phewww ;-)
Thank you all for your feedback - much appreciated. |
