cut and paste map

I have a cd for tomtom one the new style, the tom tom I use is a go700 which has never had the maps updated. Is it possible to update the uk maps on my go700 by copy and pasting the maps folder from the tomtom one cd or are they not compatable. If they are can someoneone provide simple instructions please.

They are compatable, and it should work, in theory, but it won't. The maps are locked to the original device they came with, to stop people copying the maps and selling them on Ebay etc. You could e-mail TomTom and tell them what you want to do, but I would imagine they will want you to buy a new copy for your go700. You need an activation code to make them work, the activation code is a combination of the Device code, and the Product code, so the activation code you have is ok, and the product code for the ONE's CD maps is ok, but the go700 has the wrong device code.
