I've been through the forums looking for advice on how to install voices or POIs onto this PPC. Anyone managed it?

I've created folders all over my root memory and SD card and copied in the files and TomTom IgnoresIgnores anything I add.

AnyoneAnyone got a clue how this thing works?

By a happy coincidence I've just got one of these. The key is in showing hidden files.

To install POI's, go to ActiveSync on your desktop, and Explore Pocket PC,
Tools, Folder Options, View, and check Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Copy the POI files from wherever you have downloaded them, and navigate to My Windows Mobile Based Device, IPAQ File Store, IPAQ GPS, Western_Europe, and paste the files there.

Similarly, the voices files are in IPAQ GPS, Navigator, Voices, I think!

Itineries, post codes and all the other stuff is in the Navigator folder too.

I'm just beginning to realise the benefits of a wireless Pocket PC. I'm listening to Radio Caroline in the garden. Obviously it's me that's in the garden, not Caroline, but you know what I mean.

All you need to hear proper radio is here:

sorry for getting so luvy! I was getting frustrated with the thing as some apps I've installed onto the SD card then stop working (it loses the path to them!).

I was so pleased when it turned out to be so easy.

Got some other POIs online and a few voices and got them installed as well.

You are ugly and I hate you, feel better?

Glad you've got it all working!

As mentioned elsewhere in these forums, I have no need of the default POI's, and prefer to make (or find) my own. Renaming the poi.dat file to something else will stop TomTom finding it if you want to.
